The Lord Mayor of Belfast has launched a charter to improve life for its citizens here.
It's based upon the promotion of equality, empowerment and prosperity.
Deirdre Hargey addressed a reception at City Hall on World Human Rights Day.
The city's First Citizen told Q Radio it's a vision which can be realised through collective efforts.
She went on to say it's incredible to see the power in community activism.
