People aged between 65-69 can now book their covid-19 vaccination appointments at one of Northern Ireland's seven regional vaccination centres.
The Department of Health announced earlier this week, a twin track approach to accelerating the region's vaccine programme.
It will ensure more people can take up the offer of vaccination and help protect themselves against coronavirus.
GPs will focus on inoculating the 70 plus age group.
While the seven regional centres will in parallel be offering vaccines to 65-69 year olds.
Patricia Donnelly, the head of the vaccination programme in Northern Ireland says the region is at an important juncture.
Addressing a Stormont press conference she said, "GPs and vaccination centres will both have a role over the next month in vaccinating people who are clinically extremely vulnerable (CEVs).
"They will be contacted by hospitals and GPs.
"The centres will concentrate on CEV patients who are frequent hospital attenders."
Mrs Donnelly added, "Be assured that when the vaccinations arrive they are distributed as soon as possible to GPs.
"In general supplies of both Astra-Zeneca and the Pfizer vaccine remain steady and in line with expected schedules.
"That allows us to push ahead with the rollout."

Mrs Donnelly appealed for people to be patient throughout the vaccination process.
"I fully understand the frustration in the community, people want their vaccination as soon as possible and they want certainty about where they're getting it.
"I would again appeal to people to be patient - we can only move as fast as the vaccine supplies allow.
"As much as we'd like to vaccinate everyone now, it just isn't possible."
