Broughshane pensioner dies in Mid-Ulster smash

The elderly woman who died a weekend road crash on the Hillhead Road near Castledawson was from Broughshane.

74 year old Alice Smylie was in a coliision between a red Kia and black Mazda around 10.40 a.m. on Saturday.

Her husband and son who were with her, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Mrs Smylie was a well-known community volunteer.

Police are urging any witnesses of the crash to contact Magherafelt Station their non-emergency number 101
