Teenager from Ballymoney dies after falling from a waterfall in Co. Wicklow

A 15 year-old boy from Ballymoney has died after falling from a Waterfall in County Wicklow.

The teenager, named as Lewis Fleming, was on a family holiday at the time.

The tragic accident happened at Powerscourt Estate, House and Gardens at around half 2 yesterday afternoon.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, the Garda said.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at St Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Investigations are ongoing into the incident, which it is understood is being treated as a tragic accident.

MLA for North Antrim, Mervyn Storey, said, "All of our hearts are filled with sorrow, this family has been plunged into the deepest of grief."

"Our thoughts, sympathies and prayers are with the family, and the wider family circle, as they come to terms with this very sad news this morning."

Ballymoney Councillor Darryl Wilson says the community is grieving for the family.
