9 further covid-19 deaths and 1,963 positive cases confirmed in NI

9 further covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in Northern Ireland, according to the Department of Health. 

It brings the department's death toll to 2,278. 

A further 1,963 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the past 24 hours from 5,459 tests. 

Meanwhile, there are currently 379 people being treated in hospital with the virus, 46 of whom are in intensive care units. 

The Department has administered a total of 2,389,725 vaccines to date. 

Meanwhile, the 7 day incidence rate in Northern Ireland is 552.4 per 100,000 people. 

The area with the highest rate of infection is Fermanagh and Omagh which recorded 964.2 per 100k, while the area with the lowest is Ards and North Down which recorded 403.8 per 100k.
