6 percent decrease in the number of Halloween call outs for NIFRS

There was a 6% decrease in the number of Halloween call outs for the fire service, this year compared to last.

Crews responded to 83 operational incidents between 6 last night and 1 this morning.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Alan Walmsley has been speaking to Q Radio:

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) Spokesperson said:

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service has been responding to calls associated with Halloween night celebrations with the situation remaining relatively quiet.

Between 18:00 hours 31 October and 01:00 hours 01 November, NIFRS Regional Control Centre received 134 emergency calls and fire crews have responded to 83 operational incidents.

This equates to a slight reduction (6%) for the same period 2017. 19 of these incidents were bonfire related.
