25 further covid-19 related deaths in NI and 822 new cases confirmed

25 more people have died in Northern Ireland after contracting covid-19. 

21 of the deaths occurred in past 24 hours, bringing the death toll recorded by the Department of Health to 1,606. 

In the past 7 days, 130 covid-19 related deaths and 6,882 cases of coronavirus have been recorded by the Department.

Meanwhile, 822 people have also tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, there are currently 840 covid-19 inpatients in hospitals across Northern Ireland, with hospital occupancy sitting at 93%. 

67 people are in ICU with the virus and 50 are on ventilators. 

27 intensive care beds are available across the region.

In terms of local council areas, the highest number of coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, was recorded in the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough where there 159 positive cases confirmed. 

It was followed by Belfast where 122 cases of the virus were detected.
