The countdown is on to Northern Ireland's World Cup play-off showdown with Switzerland.

The teams meet at Windsor Park on Thursday night with the return leg in Basel three days later.

Ahead of the first match, there are divided loyalties for the family of MLA and big Northern Ireland fan, Jim Wells.

That's because his son-in-law is hoping it all ends on a high note - for the opposition!


He's one of the few Swiss citizens living in Northern Ireland and has been here for four years, the past three married to Jim Wells's daughter, Sharon.

Thomas is currently studying for a PhD in aeronautical engineering at Queen's.

And he expects his homeland to be flying high after the trip to Belfast.

 

Former Stormont health minister Mr. Wells isn't impressed but on this occasion says he's prepared to do a deal.

So whose side is she taking?
 


Finally, will it be the Swiss or the Green and White Army to march on to the World Cup finals in Russia next year?
