David Elebert is a defender for the Lurgan Blues

Portadown has asked the IFA to investigate the position regarding the eligibility of a Glenavon player.

There are claims defender David Elebert should have been suspended from Monday's 2-all draw away to the Ports.

He had received bookings playing for both the first and second teams.

The Lurgan Blues said they had an assurance from the Irish FA that if Elebert sat out a reserve match last week he would be eligible for the Mid-Ulster derby.

If the authorities now rule against Gary Hamilton's team, they face the prospect of the three points being awarded to the Ports.
