Linfield manager David Healy has confirmed striker Paul Smyth is on his way to Queen's Park Rangers.

Smyth played for the Blues in their 1-0 home win against Ballymena on Saturday - a result that puts them top of the Danske Bank Premiership.

The 19-year-old later spoke to Linfield TV about his imminent move to QPR.

Smyth's transfer to the Championship club is expected to be completed on Monday.

The fee is reported to be £150,000.

Northern Ireland legend Healy expects his protege to be a big hit in London.

Linfield made it four victories and four clean sheets this season with the Windsor win against Ballymena.

Andrew Mitchell got the only goal from the penalty spot in the second half.

Sky Blues full-back Andrew Burns was red-carded a short time later.

As he left the pitch he was comforted by his twin brother, Blues forward Aaron Burns.

Ballymena's ex-Linfield defender Jim Ervin says it was a big improvement after their 6-1 defeat against Glenavon the previous week.

Meanwhile, Crusaders were 2-1 winners in the north Belfast derby against Cliftonville at Solitude.

The Crues goals were scored in the opening minutes by Jordan Owens and captain Colin Coates, who was later sent off.

Reds full-back Levi Ives was also dismissed before Jay Donnelly got an injury-time consolation goal for Barry Gray's team.
