Glentoran swoop to sign former Man United and Everton striker on loan from Dundalk

Glentoran have signed a new striker on loan from Dundalk.

23-year-old Sam Byrne was formerly with Everton and Man United and has represented the Republic up to under-21 level.

The Glens say his eligibility for Saturday’s match against Coleraine at the Oval will depend on international clearance being received in time.

Meanwhile, Glenavon have brought in midfielder Ben Doherty on loan from Derry City.

The Candystripes welcome Waterford on Friday evening for a League of Ireland game.

Glenavon have a Danske Bank Premiership trip to Newry City.
