Glens set for windfall as new boss vows to bring in "full-time football and best players"

Glentoran have confirmed Mick McDermott as their new head coach.

He takes over as Glens boss from Gary Smyth who could stay on in another role.

McDermott is from Belfast but has mainly coached overseas, most recently as assistant manager of Iran.

The 45-year-old is part of a group which intends to make a substantial investment in the east Belfast club. 

His first match in charge is a trip to Dungannon Swifts on Saturday.
