Joel Cooper is leaving Irish League champions Linfield.

The 24-year-old forward is off to Oxford United on a three-year deal.

The fee has not been disclosed.

Cooper will link up with his former Glenavon teammate, midfielder Mark Sykes, who scored for Oxford in last week's League One play-off final defeat to Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley.

Derry City have swooped to sign former England under-21 international Adam Hammill ahead of the League of Ireland restart next Friday night.

Hammill is a 32-year old winger and had most recently been on loan at Stockport County from his parent club Scunthorpe United. He joins the Candystripes until the end of the current season.

The player spent his youth career at Liverpool then played for various clubs in England and Scotland.

Candystripes boss Declan Devine then completed a second signing on Friday:

Meanwhile, there are reports Derry have missed out on a game against Celtic in Glasgow this weekend due to coronavirus.

It's reported Derry received a warning from the FAI that, by accepting a glamour friendly with the Premiership champions, their players and coaching staff would be unable to compete in a top flight clash against St Pat's in Dublin on August 3.

There are currently restrictions on visitors arriving in the Republic from Britain.
