Defending champion Rory McIlroy won't play any part in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open this weekend.

The Holywood man carded a 73 to end 1-over-par, and finish a long way off the projected cut mark.

It wasn't to be for former Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke either, as he bowed out of the tournament on 8-over-par.

Meanwhile, Ireland's Paul Dunne leads the way for the home hopes, on 8-under, with American Daniel Im co-topping the leaderboard with Benjamin Hebert on 13-under.
