Man due in court following discovery of €108,000 worth of stolen cars in Co Dublin

A BMW Jeep from Newry was among €108,000 worth of cars seized at a mortar yard in Co Dublin. 
 
The X5 was taken last August was uncovered in Lusk yesterday by Gardai investigating organised crime - along with four other vehicles. 
 
It had been dismantled for the purpose of selling individual parts. 
 
A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene before being charged - he's due to appear in court later this morning. 
A statement read: "Gardaí investigating organised crime links to the theft of a BMW X5 jeep from Newry, Co. Down in August 2019 carried out a search at a motor yard in Lusk, Co. Dublin on Friday 3 April, 2020. 

"The BMW X5 was discovered dismantled at the yard for the purposes of its individual parts being sold on. Gardaí also recovered documentation itemising the value of each car part.

"Four additional vehicles were seized by Gardaí with a total approximate value of €108,000 (figure includes value of BMW X5).

"A man, aged in his early 40s, was arrested at the scene and taken to Balbriggan Garda Station.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on 4 April 2020 at 10:30am.
