Detectives probing murder of Ballymena guesthouse owner make direct appeal to man and woman

Detectives investigating the murder of a guesthouse owner in Ballymena have made a direct appeal to a man and woman who may have information to come forward. 

67-year-old Inayat Shah who ran the Traveller's Rest on the Galgorm Road was stabbed to death last Saturday. 

Police are specifically appealing to a man and woman who spoke with security staff at the front of sangar of Ballymena PSNI station at around 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon. 

The pair were accompanied by a small child.

"Detective Chief Inspector Peter Montgomery said: “I am appealing today for them to get in touch with us so we can determine if they have any information which could assist us with our investigation.

“I would ask them to contact detectives at Seapark on 101 quoting reference 863 of 21/03/20. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800555111 that gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”

A 51-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Mr Shah.
