Doherty stars against old club as Larne sink Bannsiders on dramatic opening night

There was late drama in both games on the opening night of the Danske Bank Premiership. 

Larne hit back from 2-1 down to beat Coleraine 4-2 at Inver Park.

Ben Doherty scored one of the goals for the home side against his former club. 

He struck from the edge of the area on 88 minutes before Lee Lynch clinched it right at the end of normal time.

Meanwhile, in the Mid-Ulster derby, Portadown and Glenavon both scored in stoppage time as it finished 1-1.

The action continues with four more matches on Saturday afternoon, including champions Linfield against Crusaders.



Glentoran go to Dungannon who signed two players on the eve of the opener - 19-year-old centre back Luke McKendry and 24-year-old keeper Michael Quinn, son of former Republic of Ireland star Niall Quinn!

The Electric Ireland Women's Irish Cup final will be contested between holders Glentoran and Crusaders:

Derry City's FAI Cup run ended in Donegal with their first cup defeat against local rivals Finn Harps.
