Brad Lyons the only goalscorer as Bannsiders in third after a 1-0 win over the Ports at Shamrock Park

Brad Lyons' 23rd minute strike was enough to seal all three points for Coleraine.  The 19-year old striker's winner meant the Bannsiders returned to third place, following Ballymena's earlier win over Crusaders.

Coleraine headed into the game after Back-to-back wins over Ards in the league and Knockbreda in the cup.  After having been retroactively awarded a 3-0 win in their postponed season-opener with the Ports, the Bannsiders

Oran Kearney's mean heaped more misery on the Ports, capping of a dreadful week for the Shamrock Park outfit.  Portadown saw their 12-point deduction upheld by the IFA following their appeal, and manager Pat McGibbon resigned on Friday night.  A group of Portadown fans held a protest against the club's directors.

Coleraine are now only four points behind leaders Crusaders, who suffered their first defeat of the season against Ballymena, although the Crues have played a game less.

Next up for Coleraine is the visit of Linfield, as the Stripes will face a stern threat to their unbeaten home record.  Meanwhile Coleraine have been drawn with Crusaders in the quarter finals of the cup
