No further Covid-19 deaths recorded in NI and 102 positive cases confirmed

No further coronavirus related deaths have occurred in Northern Ireland.

This is the fourth day in a row no deaths from the virus have been recorded here.

It means the Department of Health's death toll remains at 2,146.

However, 102 people have tested positive for covid in the past day - out of 2,115 individuals tested.

67 people remain in local hospitals with the virus - 7 of whom are in intensive care units.

Meanwhile,

The head of Northern Ireland's vaccination programme, Patricia Donnelly, has told MLAs that combining the rollout of Covid-19 booster jabs with the annual flu vaccine programme would reduce the burden on Northern Ireland’s health system. 

Ms Donnelly said she hoped the UK Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) would allow appointments to be combined in the autumn.
