It's thought a coronavirus strain first detected in India will be elevated to a 'variant of concern' after clusters were found in the UK.

Seven cases were discovered in Northern Ireland yesterday and in England - largely linked to travel.

If its rating changes, there could be an escalation in response  - including surge testing.

Meanwhile, people hoping for a summer holiday abroad will discover later which countries they can visit without having to quarantine on their return.

The government's due to publish its delayed traffic-light system for England - which will apply from the 17th.

It's thought Portugal, Iceland, Malta, Israel and Gibraltar will be on the green list, meaning one Covid test is needed after returning home.
