The family of a man shot and wounded during a weekend incident in Derry Londonderry have made a complaint to the police ombudsman.

The man was shot in the chest during an incient at a flat in Celandine court late on Saturday evening and a police officer sustained knife wounds.

It's understood the man's sisters want to know what justification there was for the use of "lethal force".

The Police Ombudsman had already begun an investigation into the shooting when the complaint was made.

Meanwhile the man remains in a stable condition in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
