The funeral of 23-year-old murdered school teacher Ashling Murphy will take place today.

Her family and friends will gather at 11am for requiem mass at the parish church of St Brigid, Mount Bolus.

The 23-year-old was killed while she was out jogging on the towpath in Tullamore, County Offaly, last Wednesday afternoon.

The murder has caused widespread anger and shock in Ireland and beyond, with tens of thousands of people attending vigils in recent days.

Just one of the many messages domestic violence campaigners wish to get across

Her violent death, which police believe was at the hands of a stranger, has sparked renewed debate over the safety of women on our streets.

Domestic violence campaigners are calling for radical, systemic change to the way violence against women is handled.

Police are still hunting for her killer and made renewed appeals last night for anyone with information to come forward.

Ashling was a school teacher and a very talented musician
