In Nicky Rackard Cup news, Tyrone beat Monaghan by 2-11 to 16 points.

Five Dónal Meegan points had Monaghan in front at half-time.

But despite a good attempt by the home side in Castleblayney, Tyrone went on to claim the win.

Derry were also in cup action over the weekend.

The Oak Leafers had to withstand a strong second-half challenge from Louth.

Derry were firmly in command at half time – and eventually claimed the win.

The final score was 2-17 to 1-12.
