Unlucky Moyola fail to overcome Limavady

Moyola Park 0 Limavady united 1 (Hume) Moyola Park welcomed Limavady United to the Mill Meadow on Saturday for the semi-final of the North West Football Association Craig Memorial Cup.

The last meeting of the sides saw a 1-1 draw in the league.

Moyola Park manager Mervyn Pattison welcomed back captain Steven McQuillan back into the starting eleven following his trip to Moldova with the Junior International squad.

He also had Curtis Hassan on the bench following a long layoff due to injury.

Moyola continued to push for an opening goal and a corner by Beggs in the 14th minute was headed by McQuillan only to see L Harkin clear off the line.

The first booking of the game came in the 37th minute with McIlhatton being shown a yellow card for a late challenge.

The visitors made a change in the 57th minute and they opened the scoring when Hume received the ball on the edge of the box - and turned and fired a shot into the bottom corner past Farniok.

Moyola made their first change of the game in the 64th minute with Taggart replacing Moore.

The referee reached into the book again in the 72nd minute when he seemed to book both Carlin and L Harkin for the visitors for decent.

With the game in injury time the home side were awarded a free kick and Rafferty saw his goal bound effort deflected over for a corner and from the resulting ball in Rafferty found McQuillan and his effort from straight at Wells.

Limavady United: Paull Wells, Hugh Carlin, Declan McKeever, Bryan McClelland, Graeme Crown, Gary McFadden (Conor Harkin 57), Paul Owens, Lee Harkin, Robbie Hume, Joe McCready, Blain Morrison. Subs not used: Ray Kelly.

Moyola Park’s next game is on Saturday 3rd December 2016 when they welcome Newington to the Mill Meadow for a league game and this will have a 2:00pm kick off.
