He takes over from Roy Coyle, who was caretaker manager following the resignation of Alan Kernaghan.

New Glentoran manager Gary Haveron is set for a baptism of fire tomorrow as his first game is a Premiership derby at the Oval against unbeaten Linfield.

The former Ballymena and Coleraine player was yesterday confirmed as Glens boss on an 18-month contract.

He got the job ahead of candidates including striker Nacho Novo who joined the east Belfast club in the summer.

But 35-year-old Haveron says the ex-Rangers star will be a key member of his squad.
