A Derry good night for Daniels as Glenavon go top and the Candystripes go through

Glenavon have moved top of the Danske Bank Premiership after a 4-0 home win against 10-man Ballymena.

It was scoreless at Mourneview when Sky Blues skipper Andrew Burns was red-carded just before half-time.

Aaron Harmon, Josh Daniels, Stephen Murray and Andy Hall scored in the second half.

 

In the other games, Coleraine were held to a two-all draw by Institute at the Showgrounds and Ards beat Newry 4-0 in Bangor.

Glenavon go above Linfield on goals scored but the Blues can regain top spot on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Cliftonville.

Glentoran host Dungannon and Crusaders face Warrenpoint at the Q Radio Arena. 

Meanwhile, Derry City are through to the quarter-finals of the F-A-I Cup following a 1-0 win over St. Pat's at the Brandywell.

City keeper Gerard Doherty saved a stoppage time penalty. 

The Northern Ireland women's futsal team finished their Euro qualifiers with a battling 4-2 defeat against the Netherlands in Newry.
