UPDATE NIFL STATEMENT - 

Statement re: Referee Incident Friday 21 December

The NI Football League can provide an update on the status of the match officials involved in Friday night’s postponed match.

Due to a road traffic incident involving the match officials who were travelling together to officiate Newry City v Glentoran at the Newry Showgrounds, the NI Football League took the decision to postpone the Danske Bank Premiership fixture.

Three of the match officials were taken to hospital and underwent tests, however we are pleased to advise that all individuals have subsequently were discharged and have returned home to their families.

Our thoughts are with all the match officials and we wish them a speedy recovery.

Top match on Saturday afternoon is the second v third clash at Windsor Park, Linfield against Glenavon. There's just one point between them.

The teams met at Mourneview on the opening day of the season with the Belfast Blues winning 1-0 - Daniel Kearns grabbed the goal against his old team. 

Glenavon have been inconsistent in recent weeks, but hit top form last Friday with a 4-0 thrashing of Coleraine.
