Cliftonville chairman Gerard Lawlor says Paddy McLaughlin was the stand-out candidate to take over as the club's new manager.

The 39-year-old's been appointed on a two-and-a-half-year contract, pipping ex-Derry City boss Kenny Shiels to the job.

The chairman believes McLaughlin is the man to bring the glory days back to Solitude...

A pitch inspection's to be held this afternoon ahead of the Toals County Antrim Shield final tonight.

Linfield are due to face Crusaders in the decider at the Ballymena Showgrounds at 7.45pm.

There are also two rearranged matches in the Danske Bank Premiership - Newry City host Glentoran while Dungannon welcome Coleraine.

It's a return to Stangmore Park for former Swifts boss Rodney McAree.
