Seaview showdown tops the bill as senior clubs get set to enter the Irish Cup fray

Glentoran go to Crusaders in the tie of the Tennent's Irish Cup fifth round on Saturday afternoon.

It's a first game in charge of the Glens for Gary Smyth who won the cup with both teams as a player.

His assistant boss Paul Leeman also won major trophies with both clubs. 

A number of recent signings could make their debut in the game, including new Glens striker Darren Murray.

Crues defender Sean Ward hopes he doesn't return to haunt his former employers...

Some are tipping the Crues for a big win, but their star player Paul Heatley is cautious...

 

 

Senior clubs enter the competition at the fifth round stage, with most facing lower league opposition. 

Danske Bank Premiership leaders Linfield are at home to Ballyclare Comrades.

Cup holders Coleraine welcome Harland and Wolff Welders to the Showgrounds.

Stripes manager Rodney McAree says they're determined to retain the trophy...


Last season's beaten finalists Cliftonville have Dungannon Swifts at Solitude.

The Reds last won the cup 40 years ago and boss Barry Gray says the jinx has to end...


Institute entertain Warrenpoint Town in the other all-Premiership clash.

Newry City travel to Championship leaders Larne. 

Ballymena United are away to another second tier team, Dundela. 

There's a trip to Glenavon for the lowest-ranked club in the competition, Amateur League Rosemount Rec, from Greyabbey near Newtownards. 

The Lurgan Blues crashed to a shock cup defeat against Loughgall last year after volunteers helped to clear snow from the Mourneview Park pitch.

Rosemount skipper Ryan Stewart says win or lose they'll enjoy the occasion... 

Most of the games start at 3pm, but two have an early kick-off of 1.30 - Knockbreda against Strabane Athletic and Queen's University at home to Lisburn Distillery.

The ties are to be played to a finish with extra-time and penalties if required. The draw for the sixth round is to take place after the matches.
