Six people have died in Northern Ireland as a result of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

The latest figures from the Department of Health also show that there have been a further, 1,031 positive cases of the virus recorded in the past 24 hours.

The latest death toll comes as it was announced that officials in England will not press ahead with plans for vaccine passports for nightclubs and busy stadium events.

Health secretary Sajid Javid says the government's not going ahead with proposals which would have made so-called vaccine passports compulsory at certain crowded venues.
