Police seized an estimated £6,000 worth of drugs in the raid

By Q Radio News

Police have seized around £6,000 of suspected cannabis after a routine patrol searched a car on Sunday night.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the Castlebawn area of Newtownards and found a small quantity of suspected drugs.

But when detectives then raided a property in a follow-up search, they found suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of £6000.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug offences and is currently in police custody.

Sergeant McLaughlin from the PSNI said: “We would encourage anyone with information about the use or supply of drugs to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”
