Frampton says he is still working on rescheduling a homecoming fight in 'the very near future'

By Richard O'Reilly

Carl Frampton has confirmed he has parted ways with manager Barry McGuigan and Cyclone Promotions.

The Jackal announced on Twitter that he has ended the partnership.

'I would like to thank Barry, the McGuigan family and Cyclone" said Carl "Having taken time to consider my future, I am confident that now is the right time to move forward and take my career into my own hands"

Frampton also appeared to promise a fight in Belfast would still go ahead.

"I still believe that I'm the best heavyweight in the world" said Frampton "I promise my fans that I am continuing with my efforts to get my homecoming fight rescheduled"

One of Frampton's last acts with Cyclone was his proposed fight with Andres Gutierrez in Belfast.

However, the bout in the SSE Arena was initially postponed following a freak injury suffered by the Mexican.

It was a fight which Carl also missed the weight for; coming in at 1lb over.

The fight was then scrapped altogether, after both fighters couldn't agree on a suitable date.
