Two men arrested for questioning over murder of Belfast journalist Lyra McKee

Detectives investigating the murder of journalist Lyra McKee have arrested two more people.

The men, aged 44 and 53, were arrested in the Derry/Londonderry area this morning under the Terrorism Act.

29 year old Ms McKee, was shot dead in the city in April 2019 as she observed rioting in the Creggan area.

The suspects have been taken to the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave police station in Belfast for interview.

Three men have already been charged with the murder of Ms McKee and another four have been charged with rioting and associated offences.

The extremist group that styles itself the New IRA has previously claimed it was responsible for killing the Belfast journalist and author.

They've been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast where they will be interviewed.
