Two further Covid-19 related deaths and 1,973 positive cases confirmed in NI

Two more people have died in Northern Ireland after contracting covid-19, according to the Department of Health.

It brings the death toll according to the Department of Health to 2,166. 

A further 1,973 positive cases of the virus have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, from 5,409 tests. 

The department confirmed a total of 2,184,162 vaccines have been administered in total in the region. 

134 patients are being treated in hospital with coronavirus, 8 of whom are being treated in intensive care. 

The 7 day incidence rate per 100,000 in Northern Ireland is currently 479.9 per 100k. . 

The council area with the highest rate of infection is Belfast with a 7 day rate of 800.5 per 100k. 

Meanwhile, the Fermanagh and Omagh has the lowest with 212.1.
