Police are appealing for information after three children and a woman escaped a burning building in Craigavon last night in a  suspected arson attack.

The fire service was called to a garage fire in Westacres at 11.40pm and battled the blaze while the four occupants in the adjoining house were taken to hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation.

Detective Sergeant Dave Stewart said: "The four occupants, including three children under the age of 10 years old, were taken to hospital and treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.

"While our investigation is at an early stage, we are treating this as arson at this time, and we are asking anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to call us on 101, quoting reference number 29 of 13/07/21."

A report can also be made using the online reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport.  Alternatively, information can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org
