A further four people have died as a result of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours in Northern Ireland, according to the latest figures from the Department of Health.

There have also been 1,078 new positive cases of the virus recorded in the same period.

Currently, there are 362 patients in hospital here with Coronavirus, 27 of whom are in intensive care.

It brings the total number of deaths in Northern Ireland to 2,552.

The latest figures come as it emerged that Health Minister Robin Swann wrote to Stormont ministers on Saturday expressing frustration at a lack of progress developing a vaccine passport system for Northern Ireland.

In the letter, which has been seen by the PA news agency, Mr Swann asked why the Executive Office Covid-19 taskforce had still not produced a policy paper on the issue, five months after he asked for the work to be done.
