Championship club Loughgall are through to the Tennent's Irish Cup semi-finals after a shock 2-1 victory against Glenavon at Mourneview Park.

In the only last eight tie to survive the snow, the villagers’ goals were scored by Dale Montgomery and former Glenavon player Gary Liggett, who earlier missed a penalty....

The Lurgan Blues are third in the Premiership, while Dean Smith's side are sixth in the second tier.

However, Liggett - brought up in the Mourneview estate, just beside the ground - believes Loughgall were worthy winners...

It was a feisty affair with a substitute from either side sent off after a brawl on the sidelines.

Unused subs Simon Kelly of Glenavon and Loughgall's Stefan McMaster both saw red.

Goalscoring full-back Montgomery says the underdogs felt anything could happen on the day...

18-year-old keeper Craig Robinson was also outstanding for the villagers.

However, he wouldn’t have played but for a late call-up....

The Craigavon teenager works in Lurgan.

He told Q Radio he's keen to chat about the match with fans who'd been predicting a comfortable Glenavon victory all week!

Ironically, Glenavon fans and officials had worked until the early hours of Saturday, then through the morning removing snow to ensure the game went ahead.

Loughgall supporters say they appreciated efforts to beat the impact of the Beast from the East and Storm Emma, paving the way for their first Irish Cup semi-final for two decades...
