Leaders crash to defeat at the Showgrounds as Crues bounce back with win in Newry

Danske Bank Premiership leaders Glenavon have crashed to a 2-1 defeat away to Ballymena.

Sub Johnny McMurray grabbed a last-minute winner for the Sky Blues at a rain-soaked Showgrounds.

Glenavon remain a point clear at the top despite the defeat, their first since the opening day of the season.

Meanwhile, the new pitch was officially opened at Warden Street - here's a delighted Ballymena chairman John Taggart.

In the other Friday night match, champions Crusaders bounced back from last week's defeat against Ballymena and moved into fourth place with a 3-0 win at Newry.

Paul Heatley grabbed two late goals after a penalty opener from Rory Patterson.

The ex-Derry City man miscued a Panenka-style spot kick on his Crues debut in August and says he knew not to try it a second time!

Newry boss Darren Mullen felt the scoreline didn't tell the full story...

The first of the Saturday fixtures has an early kick-off of 1pm with Institute hosting Coleraine at the Brandywell.

A win would move Stute above the Bannsiders into the top half of the table - manager Paddy McLaughlin...

Three matches start at 3pm.

Linfield are at home to Warrenpoint and a win for the Blues would see them regain top spot. 

The teams sitting fifth and sixth at the start of the day meet at Solitude where Cliftonville welcome Glentoran.
