Linfield have extended their lead at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership to nine points.

A second-half header from defender Josh Robinson gave them a 1-0 victory over second-placed Ballymena at Windsor Park on Saturday.

Moments before breaking the deadlock Robinson rattled the crossbar with a long-range effort.

It was deja vu for the teams as Linfield had beaten the Sky Blues by the same score in the League Cup final the previous week.

The league game was another feisty affair.

Ballymena manager David Jeffrey claimed his side should have been awarded a penalty for handball near the end.

Blues boss David Healy has told Q Radio he's proud of his players...

Former Linfield manager Warren Feeney is off to a flying start as Ards manager.

His new team beat relegation rivals Newry City 3-1 in Bangor to move off the bottom of the table.

The former Northern Ireland international says while it's a big win his players still face a battle to stay in the top flight...

Coleraine beat 10-man Glentoran 2-0 and were awarded three penalties at the Showgrounds, missing the first two.

Glens defender Calum Birney was sent off by referee Keith Kennedy for handling the ball on the goal-line just after half-time.

There were also 2-0 wins for Cliftonville at Warrenpoint and Institute over Dungannon at the Brandywell.

Larne beat the Welders 2-0 so only need a point to clinch the Championship title.
